The Police Ombudsman has condemned the attempted murder of an off-duty police officer.
 
Mrs Marie Anderson said:
 
“This was a shocking and brutal attack on an off-duty officer and must be condemned.
 
Every police officer deserves to work and to go about their daily lives in their local communities without the fear or threat of violence. So too do their families.
 
My thoughts and prayers are with John Caldwell and his family at this difficult time.”
