Carlingford Lough death: Police Ombudsman appeal

The Police Ombudsman's Office has appealed for information about an incident in the early hours of last Sunday morning, May 15, after which a man drowned in Carlingford Lough.

The man who died had been swimming off the shore at Warrenpoint. It is believed the vehicle he had been driving shortly before his death had been stopped by police.

The Police Ombudsman's Office investigates all incidents in which police officers have been in contact with someone shortly before or at the time of their death.

Its investigators want to hear from anyone who was in the area of the Rostrevor Road at Warrenpoint between the hours of 4.45 am and 6.00am on Sunday morning, and who has not already spoken to them.
