Public Awareness of the Office

The Office has published the most recent Public Awareness Report, 2018/19.

The Office measures its performance against a range of targets in its Balanced Scorecard. The results from this survey are used to monitor performance in the “To enhance knowledge and understanding of the complaints system amongst key stakeholders” key area. This year the Office met all of these targets:

Maintain a level of at least 80% public awareness of the Office

  • Target met as 86% of respondents had heard of the Police Ombudsman

Maintain a level of at least 80% awareness of the independence of the Office

  • Target met as 88% of respondents who had heard of the Police Ombudsman were aware that he is independent from the police

Maintain a level of at least 80% confidence that the Office deals with complaints in an impartial way

  • Target met as 80% of respondents who had heard of the Police Ombudsman were confident that he deals with complaints in an impartial way

 

‚ÄčThe results from this year's survey have also been published in the 'Accompanying Excel Spreadsheet 2018/19'. The results from previous Omnibus surveys are also published in the 'Accompanying Excel Spreadsheet Omnibus Data up to 2017'.

The next annual report on public awareness will be published in June 2020.
