Paul Holmes, recently retired Senior Director of Investigations with the Police Ombudsman’s Office, has been awarded an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours.
Mr Holmes has received the honour for public service, after a career with the Police Ombudsman’s Office which spanned 24 years and saw him move from being an investigating officer in 2000 to a director who led both contemporary and historical investigations.
Congratulating him, Chief Executive, Hugh Hume, said:
“Paul’s contribution to policing oversight in Northern Ireland over the last 24 years cannot be underestimated and this award is richly deserved.
“Throughout his career he has demonstrated leadership, acted at all times with integrity and independence, regardless of how difficult or challenging the circumstances he faced, and has always shown respect and compassion for every person involved in an investigation.”
Mr Holmes joined the office of the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland from the Royal Hong Kong Police where he served for 15 years.
