Police Ombudsman appeals for information following Craigavon disturbances

Published Date: 01.03.2010

The Police Ombudsman has appealed for information following the discharge of three AEP baton rounds in Craigavon over the weekend.

The rounds were discharged during disturbances in the Tullygally Road area, after police moved in to deal with a suspect device which had been left there earlier that afternoon.

The AEPs were discharged within minutes of each other at around midnight on Saturday night (27 February).

All discharges of police firearms, including baton guns, are referred by the Chief Constable for independent investigation by the Police Ombudsman.

Anyone who saw the discharges, or has information about the circumstances in which they happened, is asked to contact the Police Ombudsman's freephone information line. The number to call is 0800 032 7880.
