Police Ombudsman appeals for information following discovery of man's body

The Police Ombudsman has appealed for information following the discovery of a man's body in the Galgorm Road area of Ballymena.

The body of the 43-year-old man was discovered by a member of the public on Friday afternoon. The matter has been referred to the Police Ombudsman as the man had been present at Ballymena police station on Wednesday evening. The referral is normal procedure for cases where a death has occurred following police contact.

Investigators from the Police Ombudsman's Office have been in the area since Friday evening. They are keen to speak to anybody who may have seen a male in his mid-40s, dressed in a waist length dark brown jacket, biege fleece, blue jeans and black boots in the area around Ballymena police station between Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoon.
