A booklet on ‘Dealing With Complaints Against the Police’ tells you how to complain about the police and is available on our website. Look under our Publications heading on this website. You can also get a hard copy of the booklet from our Office.
Can your complaint be resolved without investigation? Yes. Brief details are available on this website. Look under 'How to Complain'. A booklet on entitled ‘Informal Resolution’ tells how it may be possible to deal with your complaint without investigation and gives more information on this process. Look under our Publications heading on this website. You can also get a hard copy of the booklet from our Office.
What service can you expect from this Office if you are a police officer? If you look at our 'Information for Police Officers' section on the website you will see police officer issues discussed.

We also publish a booklet of information especially for police officers. You can get a hard copy from our office.
Is there information on how to make a complaint available for those who do not speak English? Those documents are available on our website. See the relevant section on the front page.
Information and statistics about the complaints we receive. This information is available on our website – look under the map of the front page of this website. Various other pieces of statistical information are regularly contained in our publications, such as our Annual report and our Research publications. These are available on this website.
The outcomes of our complaints and Investigations. Legislation allows the Police Ombudsman to make available some details of selected complaint investigations. This information is made available on our website.

The outcomes of major cases, where we have made Public Statements, are included on our website. Look under the 'Investigative reports' tab.

Details of other major cases are also available on this site. Look under the 'Investigative Reports' Look under 'PSNI Referrals' where the cases are listed by date of incident.

Details of other complaints (usually less serious) incidents are regularly included in our various publications. Look under the 'Publications' tab on this site.
General information about the Office We publish a book called the 'Police Complaints System in Northern Ireland', which gives general information about our work, and a potted history of the organisation. It is available under the 'Publications' tab on our website or you can get a hard copy from Office
Our Annual Reports are published on our website and give a general view of our work on a yearly basis. You can access a copy by looking under Publications on our website or can get a hard copy by contacting us directly
Research carried out by the Office The Police Ombudsman's Directorate of Policy and Practice carry out a lot of research. This work includes statically data - available by clicking on the map on the front page of this site.

The Directorate also examine trends and patters related to police complaints. Their major findings are often published. You can look at this material under the Publications heading on this site.
